Nick Davis is the winner of this year's race, held on 3 x 2000m laps of the acres / Munich lap. It was a lovely sunny, crisp winter morning which contrasted to last years race which was run in the snow. As can be seen on the race finish video upload, Nick held off the challenge of Una Reilly who was undone by a wrong turn during the first lap. Lena & Diarmaid produced the fastest times on the day.

Thanks to Dermot, Paddy, Tom, Brendan & Niall who officiated the race and also to Nick Davis who also marked the new course earlier that morning.
Joe Cooper leads the way after his two top 5 finishes, with Cake Race champion Larry Callaghan and Ger Feeley just 10 points behind in joint 2nd place. It looks like the bonus 10 points for completion of all races will play a big part this year.
Larry Callaghan is the winner of the 2011 Cake Race, leading home a field of 39 athletes today. Well done to Larry and all the athletes who competed, and thanks to the officials, bakers and the handicappers too.
On a cold still day on the Curragh Leona O'Reilly moved right up through the field on the 2nd lap to take 4th place in a sprint finish and win a county gold as 2nd scorer for the winning Dublin team.
Leona was well backed up on the LV womens team by Lena Sinclair (who also represented Dublin) followed by Síle Ní Chearbhaill Siobhan Keenehan and Ger Feely.
The LV women finished 6th today in their first outing at this level of competition. For the LV men, Mike Griffin led the team home.
