2009 LVAC Multi Terrain Race - 28 Dec 2009

Phoenix Park, Dublin

The Phoenix Park was a blanket of white frost, with conditions underfoot like running on rubble such was the freezing conditions. Temperatures just managed to reach above zero, although the blue sunny sky reminded everyone of warmer race days.

Una Reilly was the first athlete to start the 13th Multi Terrain Race. Malcolm, Tom, Christine and Steve were on hand to record times and take photos as Jim Davis counted off the athletes from the handicap sheet.

Ray Boyle was the one to take the race by the scruff, and he had an unassailable lead turning out of the forest and onto the 15 acres road. With a 24 second gap to Paul Balfe in 2nd place, a steam of bright yellow singlets rushed through the finish line, with Lena Sinclair first lady home.

The race distance according to satellite tracking is 3.33 miles, with the fastest times set by Mairead Murphy (22.12) & Ciaran Reilly (19.15)
